So going straight in, you released your debut EP, what influenced the sound?
Individually it varies, we each had some different inspiration before we went in to track the songs. Equally it changed over the months from recording the first two singles, to the rest last April.
If it could be pinned to artists we were listening to a lot of The Pale White, Arctic Monkeys, Sex Pistols and generally just modern indie-rock and punk.
Would you say your sound has evolved over the years and if so, how?
At the start we were basically a rip off White Stripes, now I think it’s safe to say we sound more like ourselves than anything else. We’re constantly trying new things and the music we’ve been writing recently definitely points in a new direction for us. At this point we consider it ‘indie-punk’ but we’re open to suggestions.
You've been playing a lot of gigs recently, is there a particular song on your setlist that you enjoy performing the most?
Again, it varies. A standout is ABIOTIC which always has some of the best crowd response, but others have their spotlight, we love playing Mr Fully Paid too.
If you could collaborate with any band or artist, dead or alive, to have them feature on one of your songs, who would you choose and why?
The Wiggles.
If 'No Scrap Value' as a whole could soundtrack any film or TV series which one would it fit the best?
Trainspotting, Teletubbies and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
What's the funniest thing that has happened while performing (is there any funny moments in particular during band life that stick out the most)?
Each show there’s always the fear of Fred getting crushed by his amp, at our last show it was literally rocking after he jumped off it.
A big thing for us was when Fergus got fined on a train back in January last year, the train inspector hated us. We wrote Fully Paid about it, the lyrics are telling. It wasn’t funny in the moment but looking back at it we got a good song out of it. Never got the £60 back though.
If Jam Tub had a biopic, who would play each of you and why?
Get Matthew McConaughey to play Michael, Zac Efron for Fred and Owen Wilson for Fergus. That’s just a dream cast there.
Do you have any plans for more upcoming music/ what can your listeners expect?
We’re heading back into the studio very soon, we’re hoping to have some new music out around the time of our NX show, couldn’t say an exact date but it’ll definitely be a step up in production and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on.
What's next for you guys for the rest of the year?
At the moment all eyes are on NX in May, we’re opening for the Sherlocks. New music soon obviously and just bigger and better shows. Shaping up to be a mint year.
